- To extend referral diagnostics for avian diseases to public and private institutions.
- To undertake strategic surveillance for avian diseases focusing zoonotic pathogens, through National, Regional and International coordination.
- To address researchable issues pertaining to pathogenesis, vaccines, diagnostics, and control of avian pathogens.
- To standardize and harmonize existing avian diagnostic procedures and introduce more sensitive avian disease diagnostic assays procedures against existing and emerging pathogens.
- To serve as a national repository of different avian pathogens circulating in the country.
- To extend training to local and overseas avian diagnosticians.
- To sustain ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation and to expand testing scope of the lab.
- To investigate avian zoonotic pathogens at human –animal interface under one health concept.
