Dr. Shahzad Asad is currently posted as Director General, NARC, Islamabad. He received his doctoral degree from Quaid-i-Azam, University, Islamabad in the field of Microbiology. During his professional career, he has received trainings from Germany, Mexico and USA in the field of Plant Pathology.

Dr. Asad has a vast research experience of more than 30 years and worked on the management of diseases in Vegetables, Fruits,Wheat and Oilseed crops.  Dr Asad has also worked as Director CDRI, NARC and has completed projects in collaboration with international organizations which include mitigation of Aflatoxin in Pakistan (USAID /USDA) and mitigation of yellow rusts in Wheat (ACIAR).Dr. Asad has authored 52 research papers in the journals of International repute and contributed in development ofNARC HG-1 (Garlic), Parsun-1 (Sunflower), Pothowar (Groundnut) and Avacodo varieties. He has also supervised 4 Ph.D and 6 M.Phil students.
