1^st Pakistan International Date Palm Festival 2024

The 1st Pakistan International Date Palm Festival, held at the Expo Centre in Karachi from 4 to 6 October 2024, gathered a number of key stakeholders of Date Palm, including farmers, researchers, industry professionals, and international delegates. The event was organized by Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation in cooperation with the Ministry of National Food Security & Research and Trade Development Authority GoP to promote Pakistan's Date palm cultivation, trade, and market development. The festival highlighted the importance of modern agricultural practices, research, and innovation in boosting the Date palm industry in Pakistan. A total of 145 exhibitors/date producers/processors from Pakistan, UAE, Jordan, Mexico, Syria, Mauritania, Egypt, Morocco and Turkey participated.

PARC research establishment in Sindh and Balochistan i.e. PARC-SARC, PARC-AZRC, and PARC-BARDC displayed information and fruits of the promising dates varieties and value-added products such as date syrup, bars, paste, jam etc. Mr. Ali Tahir, Secretary (MNFS&R) GoP, delivered a key-note speech on behalf of the MNFS&R, while Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Ali, Chairman (PARC) and Mr. M. Arshad Farooq, (DG, P&DD) PARC, Islamabad participated in the festival showcasing their commitment to support the Date palm sector in Pakistan on 04-10-2024. The presence and active participation of PARC in this festival signified the organization's dedication to advancing agricultural technologies and sustainable practices in Date palm sector in Pakistan.
