Coordination of agricultural research is the second most important mandate of PARC. Therefore, this Directorate was established, since the inception of PARC with different names. Third Party Evaluation report also highlighted the importance of this Directorate. This Directorate is vigorously involved in coordination of agricultural research both at national and international level
At international level, this Directorate has been involved in finalization of MOUs/Agreements with friendly countries and international organizations as well as exploring the new avenues of cooperation with National Agricultural Research System (NARS) of numerous countries including China, Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Bulgaria. This Directorate facilitates the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Government of Pakistan in organizing international meetings and conferences.
The Directorate of Coordination has played a key role for the establishment of Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) Center in PARC-National Agricultural Research Center, Islamabad. Through this Center, Pakistan and Korea are collaborating for transfer of latest agricultural technologies to Pakistan with the aim to modernize our agriculture sector and increase incomes of smallholder farmers, through self sufficiency of virus free potato seed multiplication by Aeroponic technique; establishment of production technology of major fodder crops in Pakistan; and chili production and postharvest management technology development in Pakistan.
At national level, this Directorate is developing linkages with Universities, private sector, social sector, and research & development organizations.
- A total 118 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs)/Letter of Intents (LoIs)/Agreements have been signed with various agricultural & research organizations, universities and the number of active MoUs is 57.
- Established regional coordinated units through the decision of Executive Council in all provinces at PARC outstation research establishments namely:-
- Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), Faisalabad at Punjab Province
- PARC-Water and Agricultural Waste Management Institute (WAWMI), Tandojam at Sindh Province
- Participatory Field Research Station (PFRS), Tarnab-Peshawar at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province
- Baluchistan Agricultural Research & Development Centre (BARDC), Quetta at Baluchistan Province
- Mountain Agricultural research Centre (MARC), Jaglot at Gilgit-Baltistan
- Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI) at Muzaffarabad, AJK
