DR. SHAHANA UROOJ KAZMI 
Member (Animal Sciences) 

Professor Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Member (Animal Sciences) holds PhD in Microbiology from University of Maryland, USA and possesses more than 35 years of teaching and research experience, with focus on animal health and nutrition; new antimicrobial and immunomodulatory agents; development and evaluation of immunodiagnostic methods for potential human, plant and animal pathogens; and molecular immunology of infectious diseases. During her teaching and research career, she had intensive involvement in animal-based research system at national and international levels.

Dr. Kazmi is recipient of three awards i.e., (i) Institute of Food Technologists, Washington (DC) for PhD dissertation; (ii) Monbusho Fellowship to visit Japanese universities and scientific institutions for collaborative research; and (iii) Eli Lilly Best Microbiologist Award. She is the President of the Pakistan Society for Immunology and Infectious Diseases since 1994 and has been elected President – Pakistan Society for Microbiology for more than two terms. Besides, she is member of a number of research organizations and universities across the country and also earned membership of American Society for Microbiology; New York Academy of Sciences; Third World Organization for Women in Sciences, Trieste (Italy); and Campylobacter/Helicobacter Society of North America. More than 14 students have completed their PhDs/MPhils under her supervision. Dr. Shahana has attended a number of national/international seminars and presented lectures as invited speaker in domestic and foreign universities. She has contributed scores of research publications in journals of repute. She is also Associate Editor, Pakistan Journal of Microbiology and quarterly magazine 'Micronews.'
