Islamabad: 8th March, 2018:- Addressing to the 2nd working group meeting, Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali, Member Plant Sciences Division, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Islamabad emphasized the stakeholders and scientists of agricultural departments of Hazara Division for efforts in the field of agriculture sector to make it more profitable for growers.
The 2nd working group meeting was convened at PARC-Institute of Research on High value Agriculture (PIRHA), Shinkiari, Mansehra , chaired by Dr. Muhammad Anjum Ali, Member Plant Sciences Division, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Islamabad. Meeting was attended by the Director & Scientists of PARC-Institute of Research on High value Agriculture (PIRHA), Shinkiari, Director & Scientists of Agricultural Research station, Baffa, District Directors Agric. Ext. Mansehra, Representatives of Director General Agric. Extension, Research Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Agric. Depot Hazara University, Progressive growers from Districts Mansehra, Abbotabad and Battagram.
Director, PIRHA welcomed the participants and gave a detailed presentation regarding the activities of the Institute and its role for the benefit of growers in the area. Director Agricultural Research station, Baffa, presented the efforts of scientists for the development of modern techniques for growing of fruits and vegetables in the area. District Director Agric. Ext. Mansehra, highlighted the role of extension department and ask the growers to keep close coordination for the purchase of fertilizers, pesticides etc and other related farming matters.
Progressive growers took part in the discussion and highlighted the problems being faced by them in the market and fields. Member Plant sciences Division said that this working group is the actual forum for coordination of different stakeholders and growers of the area to discuss and address the problems being faced by the farming community and to identify researchable areas for the applied and adaptive research to resolve farmers problems and disseminate technologies to make agriculture profitable for up-gradation of socio economic conditions of rural masses.
