M.A.H. Qadri Biological Research Centre in collaboration with Department of Botany, University of Karachi organized a One day seminar on “Toxins and Human Health: Impact of drug overdose, pesticides, fungal and industrial toxins on human health” on 19th November, 2019 at Department of Botany Auditorium, University of Karachi.
Dr. S.A.R. Kazmi, Director General, PARC-SARC addressed to the participants on the topic and presented a multi-media presentation as well.
Prof. Dr. Shamim A. Qureshi, Dept. of Biochemistry, University of Karachi share his views on “Centratherum anthelminticum (bitter cumin) reduces the industrial toxin-induced hepatotoxicity”.
Dr. Akhlaq Ahmad, Director (FQSRI), PARC-SARC presented a brief introduction on research work being carried out on environmental toxins at SARC, PARC, Karachi. Dr. Najmus Sahar, SSO, FQSRI, PARC-SARC share her views on “Aflatoxins: a serious threat to health and agriculture. Dr. Riazuddin, SSO, FQSRI, PARC-SARC briefed the participants on “Pesticides and its exposures”.
Dr. Hira Khan, Assistant Professor, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Dow University of Health Sciences shares her views on “Drug induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity”. Ms. Oneza Zaim, Senior Environmental Analyst, Tekcellent Private Limited discussed about “Toxins, contaminants and ecological risk assessment”.
In the end, the organizers presented a Shield to Dr. S.A.R. Kazmi, DG(PARC-SARC), Karachi.
