Subject: “Upcoming Webinars - TAPipedia and Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems” - Please Register

Dear APAARI Members and Partners,

This month, please take the opportunity to participate in two webinars. You will have a chance to learn more about knowledge management efforts provided through an information-sharing platform called TAPipedia, and the role of higher education in developing functional capacities to unlock the potential for agricultural innovation.

First, the Webinar on “Sharing Knowledge on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation through TAPipedia” will take place on 7 November 2017 from 11.30-13.00hrs (CET time). The Webinar aims to raise awareness of (i) the role of TAPipedia - developed by the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) - in disseminating innovative and systemic approaches for capacity development, (ii) the use of TAPipedia by stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems (AIS) to share their own applied and context-specific resources on capacity development (CD) for AIS and to learn about other such experiences from others; and (iii) the use of TAPipedia to promote the TAP Common Framework on CD for AIS and its practical approach to harmonizing the diversity of existing CD strategies through an AIS perspective. Read more about the Webinar here and register here.

Second, the Webinar on “Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation - Bringing system-wide change in AsiaPacific through the Adoption of the Common Framework by Universities” will take place on 16 November 2017 from 13.00-14.30hrs (CET time). The Webinar, that is specially targeting university professionals in strategic positions (but is also open to others interested in this topic), will explore the need to equip agricultural graduates with soft skills (“functional capacities”) enabling them to facilitate innovation processes to address the complex challenges agriculture is facing today and in the future. It aims to raise awareness on the importance of developing functional capacities to unlock the potential for agricultural innovation and the role of higher education in developing such capacities, It will also raise awareness among professionals in higher education on the Common Framework developed by the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), its principles and tools, including functional capacities for AIS (individual, organizational and enabling environment). Read more about the Webinar here and register here.

The Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR), are the key partners in the two Webinars. The Global Confederation of Higher Education Associations for Agricultural and Life Sciences (GCHERA) is also a partner in the Webinar with universities.

We believe that both Webinars will add value to your development efforts and hope you participate. We would appreciate if you could share this message with your partner organizations and colleagues to encourage them to participate as well.

We look forward to your participation.

Thank you and kind regards.
